Augercast Piles for Infrastructure

Project Location: Miami, FL

After the success of the Signature Bridge load testing program for augercast piles, state and local authorities in Florida are gaining confidence in this deep foundation technology for infrastructure applications. Bi-directional static load testing, along with PDI‘s Thermal Integrity Profiling QA/QC method is proving the suitability and reliability of ACIP foundations for public works.

LTC has been working with Keller North America in South Florida on a variety of projects, including some for infrastructure applications. The Port of Miami is expanding its cruise ship terminal capacity. A fly-over structure for arriving and departing passengers will be supported on 24″ augercast piles.

Up the road in north Miami, Brightline is in-building a new station at Aventura to its existing Miami-Ft. Lauderdale-West Palm Beach passenger rail service. A pedestrian bridge, also supported on 24″ augercast piles will cross the adjacent US-1 to connect the station to Aventura Mall.

Both of these projects indicate a bright future for augercast piles in infrastructure construction.
